Not enough energy, but I clearly do
Alright, my girlfriend was trying to death level a pet to level 20 and get a Dire Crane. She gets the thing to level 20 and tries to cast Charm Animal with 28 energy and it says she doesn't have enough energy to cast it. So she does it again, same thing. Then she decides maybe it's the crane, goes to Plains of Jarin and tries it on a Flamingo. Does the same thing, not enough energy. So she gives up. Now today she tries it again; same damn thing.
Any ideas on what's up? I did this two times for both of my ranger heroes, but with Polar Bears, so what exactly is going on? |

Im not sure if this will help. But is the character casting Charm Animal a Ranger as primary?
Charm Animal require 10 Energy to cast. If the character has 60% DP, I think the remaining Energy is less than 10 and is not enough to cash Charm. If he is primary Ranger, maybe there is not enough point on Expertise to reduce the Energy requirement. If he is not ranger primary, staff and item items with +energy might help. I'm not sure if this is the problem with the character casting Charm Animal. |

try hiding your energy with energy sets, have a negative one and switch to a 30/-2 set or something.

That's what I have, you might be able to go up to like 34 or so with 60% but you wouldn't be able to have any attribute or vigor runes. Not sure why you would want to have more than that...

5 radiant insignias is +8 energy, 5 attunement runes is +10, and an Insightful (+5) staff (+10) with a Seize the Day inscription (+15) adds another 30e. This runs the grand total up to 48 from items. This pretty much works for any class. A ranger starts with 25 energy so that places it at 73e - at 60% you should have right at 29 energy (not sure which way things are rounded). Add in consumables that add +energy (I don't know if their bonus is affected by DP or not) and you can get to over 30. Is that useful? Well, that is an entirely other question and I will leave that up to the reader. |

Oh well, if it helps you have fun then have at it - the hench/heroes aren't going to complain and as long as I'm not in your group I'm not going to either. |

28 Energy starting, and 60% DP would still provide 12 energy. Even with 0 Expertise, that is enough to use Charm Animal. Not sure what the cause might be, but I have never had issues with this. I suggest you take screenshots showing your health/energy with no DP, your health/energy with DP, and the 'Not enough energy' error message you get. Then, place it in the Bug forum.

I'm going to guess that it's the bug flubber linked to. Sometimes a bit of lag can put your energy display out of sync with what the server thinks you have, and the game never manages to re-sync them.
